About Charles Newman
I'm a GCSE student at Colchester Royal Grammar School with a passion for aviation and a strong record of leadership through volunteering and technical production. I enjoy working in structured, team-based environments where planning, communication, and reliability are essential.
Alongside my studies, I contribute to projects that challenge me to take responsibility and deliver under pressure — the kind of discipline that will support my future in commercial flight training.

Why aviation appeals
Aviation appeals to me because it combines structure with challenge. I value the teamwork, precision, and calm decision-making that flying demands — but I'm also drawn to the lifestyle of travel, learning, and responsibility that comes with it.
It's a career that requires professionalism and discipline while offering the opportunity to see the world from a different perspective.
Where I contribute
- VATSIM (Global) - Volunteer: Supporting the international online aviation network through policy, auditing, and outreach. I help maintain consistent standards across 200+ virtual airlines.
- VATSIM UK - Community Department: Volunteering with training and community engagement, helping maintain high-quality documentation and smooth communication across teams.
- Scouts - Young Leader: Working with young people to build teamwork, safety, and confidence in a structured environment.
- CRGS - Technical Production: Supporting school productions and events through audio, lighting, and AV work.
- Premier Studios - Managing Director: Overseeing a distributed freelance network delivering technical and creative projects for clients worldwide.
What I'm working toward
I'm focused on building a strong academic and personal foundation for flight training. Through work and volunteering, I've learned the value of teamwork, communication, and responsibility. My aim is to keep developing these skills so I'm ready for the professional demands of commercial aviation when the time comes.
